Analytics Director (Southern Europe)

Founder | Analytics Director (Southern Europe)

Our purpose? Enriching life for the many. Together with retailers, we develop campaigns that increase sales while exciting, engaging, and inspiring their customers. Since launching three years ago, L has already acquired some of the biggest names in grocery retail, stretching from Sydney to São Paulo. They include Coles, 7-Eleven, REWE, Intermarché, Esselunga, Conad, Coop, Super Muffato and Jumbo, just to name a few.

L has over 2500 years of experience in the loyalty industry. We use data-led shopper insights to get under the skin of who our target audiences are. This, coupled with an understanding of our clients’ business, allows us to provide tactical loyalty solutions that no other in-store marketing campaign can – increasing visit frequency and basket size, and attracting new shoppers.

Learn more about L below. But first, let’s talk about you.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
  • Share our passion for enriching life for the many.
  • Live our values of Entrepreneurship, Accountability, Caring and Sharing.
  • Be an enterprising, eager-to-learn individual who is keen to contribute towards the success of our company.

Here at L, we can offer a career in a dynamic, international environment with a strong entrepreneurial culture. You will form part of the Data & Analytics team, based out of our regional offices NSO in Paris or Milan and be willing to travel to other regional offices.

The team currently consists of a Global Director Data & Analytics, and two Business Data Analysts, as well as a team of (external) Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists. You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our clients, technical analytics teams, and non-technical business stakeholders. Your job will be performed in close contact with other departments, such as Sales, Project Managers, Operations and Insights.

Major responsibilities include:
  • Facilitating communication between data scientists, analysts, and business leaders. Ensuring that analytics insights are communicated in a way that is easily understandable to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Building strong relationships with key business stakeholders and understanding their needs. Collaborating with them to define analytics requirements and translating those requirements into actionable insights.
  • Overseeing the execution of analytics projects from start to finish. This includes setting priorities, managing resources, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Providing training and education programs to help non-technical stakeholders understand and leverage analytics insights. This might involve conducting workshops, creating educational materials, and fostering a data-driven culture within the organisation.
  • Developing and nurturing strong relationships with clients to understand their business objectives and challenges. Collaborating closely to align analytics initiatives with client goals.
  • Providing strategic guidance to clients on how analytics can address their specific business needs. Acting as a trusted advisor to help clients make informed decisions based on analytics insights.
In essence, an Analytics Director is a leader who not only understands the technical aspects of analytics but also possesses strong communication and leadership skills to ensure that analytics insights are effectively utilised to drive business success.

About the successful candidate:
  • You have previous experience in client-facing roles such as consulting, account management, or sales.
  • You have a background in analytics and data science.
  • You are familiar with the food retail/FMCG industry and understand the specific challenges and opportunities that clients in the industry may face.
  • You are results-oriented, with a proven track record in achieving measurable results.
  • You have experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Required skills and experience:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address client challenges and recommend data-driven solutions.
  • The ability to educate clients on the value of analytics, empower them to understand and use insights effectively, and provide ongoing support for their analytics needs.
Nice to haves:
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, such as English and Spanish, Italian or French.
  • Experience managing, implementing and adapting to organisational or procedural change.
  • Experience in data visualisation tools and techniques.
  • Experience developing and measuring key performance indicators.
  • Experience working in a global or diverse business environment.
